Sound Beginnings Allied Health is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control.

Standard we build to

This website is being built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. A full conformance evaluation has not yet been completed, so we do not claim full conformance at this time.

We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, Level AA. WCAG 2.2 has been a published W3C Recommendation since October 2023 and is the current version of the standard.

A newer version, WCAG 3.0, is still in development. It is an incomplete Working Draft with a conformance model the W3C has not finalised, and the W3C advises it is not expected to become a completed standard for some years. We are tracking it, but we build to WCAG 2.2 because that is the standard that can be tested and relied on today.

How we test

Our checks run at two points:

  • On every build, automatically: structural accessibility auditing with axe-core across every page (missing labels, ARIA roles, heading order, landmarks), and W3C HTML validation. A build cannot ship with a critical or serious structural issue.
  • Before a release, by a person: an audit in a real browser with Lighthouse covering colour contrast and touch target size, and manual keyboard-only navigation of every interactive element.

Automated tools cannot detect every barrier, and passing them is not the same as conforming to WCAG. Some criteria, such as whether help is offered consistently or whether a login process relies on a memory or transcription test, can only be judged by a person, and we assess those manually.

Known limitations

Third party content that we embed but do not control, such as booking systems, maps, and payment providers, may not meet the same standard. Where we identify a barrier in an embedded service, we raise it with the provider and offer an alternative way to complete the task.
